The Historic Flight Foundation Douglas DC-7B, N836D, made its first flight on July 4 at Opa-Locka, Florida, following a six-year 32,000hr $1m-plus restoration. In command was Carlos Gomez, who saved the former Eastern Airlines aircraft from neglect at Minneapolis in 2004. It has a full passenger interior, and is the only four-piston-engined 1950s airliner offering pleasure flights in the USA. It was due to debut at the EAA's show at Oshkosh on July 26 before flying to the Thunder Over Michigan show at Ypsilanti on August 6.
