Rare 'Whale' saved

Following retirement from radar research and test work with the Raytheon Technical Services Company in Van Nuys, California, USA, Douglas A-3 Skywarrior BuNo 144825 was flown to the Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island on April 29 for permanent display. The A-3 entered service at Whidbey in 1956, being the first jet assigned to the base, which eventually supported six A-3 squadrons and a training unit.
