Fokker D VII flies

On april 10 at Sebbarp, southern Sweden, Mikael Carlson took his Fokker D VII reproduction for its maiden flight, 16 years after he set about building an exact copy of Germany's best First World War fighter. The aircraft, SE-XVO, is powered by a 200 h.p. Mercedes engine and has no deviations of any kind from the original aircraft. Even the moulds from which the tyres were made were taken from original D VII tyres in museums. The D VII project started when Mikael found the Mercedes D.llla engine stored in a shed in southern Norway.
