Scottish Sopwith trial-rigged

At East Fortune near Edinburgh, the Aircraft Preservation Society of Scotland's (APSS) Sopwith 1½ Strutter replica project received a boost in early August when the 150 h.p. Rotec 3600 radial engine that will power the machine arrived at the APSS workshop. The aircraft also was trial-rigged in the Museum of Flight's Concorde Hangar during early August. The undercarriage was assembled and mounted on the fuselage, and some final checks and measurements were being made before the aircraft was disassembled again, so that the wings and fuselage can be covered. The flying wires have also been very carefully measured again so that the dimensions can be supplied to Brunton's Wire Mills in Musselburgh. It is hoped that the aeroplane will fly in about two years.
