With the purchase of Dragon Rapide TX310/G-AIDL from the Classic Air Force at auction at Goodwood on 12 September, Classic Wings brings its fleet of the type to three. G-AIDL arrived on 13 October at the pleasure flying operator's base at IWM Duxford, where it will join G-AIYR and G-AKIF in giving pleasure flights over East Anglia and above London. Also new to Classic Wings' fleet is Tiger Moth PG657/G-AGPK (c 86566). This aircraft has seen much use overseas, including service as a pilot trainer with the French Armee de I'Air (which took no less than 242 examples onto its books from April 1944) and a long period on the US civil register as N657DH. It now painted in a representative RAF training camouflage scheme with yellow under-surfaces, and increases Classic Wings' Duxford-based fleet of Tigers to four.
