The Vega Aircraft Corporation was a Lockheed subsidiary, and Burton Griffin, a 21 -year-old night shift worker, had the idea in December 1940 of getting his colleagues to volunteer their time or money to build a special employee-donated Hudson as a Christmas gift to Britain.
