This is volume two in the story of the Ju 88. Volume one was published in 2013 and was our Book of the Month in the Winter 2013 Aeroplane; now here is the follow-up, starting with an overview and prologue to World War Two, illustrating some of the 1930s designs and prototypes and the Luftwaffe's order of battle on 1 September 1939, revealing that at the outbreak of war the service had 339 Do 17s, 788 He 111s and only 12 Ju 88s. Further orders of battle follow, while the falsely-claimed sinking of the Ark Royal is given an interesting page, along with the type's role during events in the Low Countries, France and so on. Masses of photographs and drawings are included, and although the cost is high this must still represent value for money, with surely everything you want to know about the Ju 88 in these two volumes - but don't forget that a further volume covering fighter variants is on the way, so start saving up.
