The second volume of this title containing military prototypes between 1945 and 1974 is mainly of interest in terms of the non-British subjects - most British types such as the DH110, P1, TSR2 and so forth have been pretty well done to death over the years. A personal preference would have been the inclusion of European helicopters, a subject that does not seem to have attracted many authors. Having made that point, the British coverage is good, but it is particularly interesting to see the many French prototypes that failed to enter production. That country's aerospace industry expanded rapidly post-war and built a number of designs, many of which were of rather unusual appearance, but of all those shown here only the Breguet Vultur metamorphosed into a production aircraft, the Alize.
