For Battle of Britain film devotees, all roads led to Cosby in beautiful southern Leicestershire on 4 September, where Spitfire IX MH415 - the only surviving airworthy 'Spit' that flew before the cameras back in 1968 and hadn't flown in public during the intervening half-century - was to make its debut following restoration by Air Leasing at Sywell. Wearing the ZD-E codes in which it flew with No 222 Squadron from Homchurch between October 1943 and January 1944, this highly original fighter was stored at Battle of Britain film pilot Wilson 'Connie' Edwards' ranch in Texas from 1974 to 2018, prior to its arrival back in the UK in 2020.
