On 11 June at Modlin airport, Warsaw, Europe's only airworthy representative of the single-seat MiG-15 design, Polish-built Lim-2 602/SP-MIG, made its first flight following restoration with the Polish Eagles Foundation at Goraszka, 12 miles east of the Polish capital. Originally constructed in 1955, the machine is one of 500 MiG-15bis fighters built under licence as the Lim-2 at the WSK-Mielec factory in south-eastern Poland between 1952-54. The maiden flight was the first occasion on which a single-seat Lim-2 had appeared in Polish skies for 37 years. The fighter joins 1953-built, two-seat SB Lim-2 SP-YNZ on the country's civil register, the trainer having flown in 2010 after restoration by the Polish Eagles Foundation. It is now operated by Fubar Aviation from Poznan-Lawica Airport in central Poland.
