As a long-time subscriber to Aeroplane, I was delighted to read your interview with Reg Urschler in the February 2021 issue, as I had the good fortune to get a ride in the back of P-51D Gunfighter with him at the Oshkosh AirVenture show. I am a retired aerospace/ defence executive, aeronautical engineer and general aviation pilot who attended AirVenture 34 years in a row. Like many pilots, I was always fascinated by the P-51, so I always spent a significant amount of time at the warbirds area. Sometime in the early '80s, I stopped to look at the pristine Gunfighter and struck up a conversation with the pilot. It turned out that he was a US Air Force Strategic Air Command brigadier general based at Offutt AFB, which I knew well. One of the aerospace divisions that reported to me had a contract with SAC to develop and maintain the command's intelligence data-handling system. I explained that to Reg, who was very familiar with my contract.
