CESSNA 337 HITS 60 - AND LOOKS TO GREEN FUTURE

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first flight of the Cessna Skymaster, two examples of the twin-boom, push-pull, twin-210hp Continental-powered machine that operate from Teuge Airport, just west of Deventer in the Netherlands, were displayed side-by-side for the first time on 28 February. Both the civil and military versions of the Skymaster are flown from Teuge. The former US Air Force Cessna 0-2, 67-21300/N590D, is operated by the Postbellum Foundation, and was the sixth of 513 0-2As built, serving in the forward air control role in Vietnam from 1967-70. Retired in the mid-1980s, 21300 was restored at Camarillo, California in the early 2000s before being flown across the Atlantic to the Netherlands by Postbellum chairman Jeff Bakker. A total of 178 USAF 0-2s were lost during the Vietnam War.
