Ryan airborne at Old Warden

Ryan STM-2S N7779 made its first flight at Old Warden with Shuttleworth Collection chief engineer Jean-Michel Munn at the controls on 19 March. Owned by Arnaldo Leon, the former Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force trainer arrived at the Bedfordshire aerodrome from California on 7 August 2020. Following Dutch military service between 1940-42 with the serial S-40, the Ryan went to the Royal Australian Air Force, adopting serial A50-31 from 1942 until the spring of 1945. Current plans call for the Ryan, c/n 476, to reside at Old Warden for the time being.
