In the UK, the popularity of the Supermarine Spitfire across all age groups seems to have no end. Indeed, it apparently continues to increase every year. This is despite that fact that the numbers of people who flew, maintained or built the Spitfire are now very small - the generation that created the legend has virtually all gone. However, many are still captured by that Spitfire magic. This has been considerably boosted by the fact that, at the end of 2014, the UK Civil Aviation Authority changed the regulations governing warbird types such as the Spitfire to permit paid passenger flights.
