IMAPS - Recognizing the Microelectronics Industry

Imaps as a society is changing to better meet the needs of our current members, provide "opportunities" for new Microelectronics and Packaging professionals and attract more companies within the Microelectronics industry. The Microelectronics industry has grown over the last three to five years after a significant decline in 2000 and 2001. New and increasing investments in microelectronics and microelectronic packaging are continuing on a global scale. The growth of microelectronic materials in traditional areas of North America, Japan and Europe will be below growth in other areas of the world. Microelectronic Manufacturing will continue to move to the low cost areas of the world. Process Evolution efforts will continue to grow in the new manufacturing areas. The majority of Revolutionary Process Development will continue to be concentrated in North America, Japan and Europe. The needs of our members in each region will continue to change to reflect Microelectronics industry development movements on a global scale.
