摘要

The discussants congratulate the authors for their valuable contribution to the topic. The flow structure is highly complex in compound channels when the floodplain contains vegetative roughness. During the physical modelling the authors used rigid stem analogy to represent the woody vegetation with large trunk in the floodplain. However, unless the difference between the character of flow through natural vegetation and flow around rigid stem is well-understood, the achieved conclusions may be misleading.
