摘要

Mycotoxins are the metabolites generated by the attack of molds (fungi) like Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus parasiticus, Fusarium etc. on food grains and dried fruits in conducive environment for their growth and nourishment. These metabolites are detrimental to health of human being as well as live stock. These metabolites have lot much of toxic potential and can have severe health impacts. Such toxic compounds are found to be retained even after processing the food items and can thereby influence the life of human being. The concentration level of toxins may be abysmally low but still sufficient enough to get the lives of human and livestock afflicted by diseases like cancer.The separation and analysis of such toxins require development and optimization of a suitable analytical method. In this exercise Reverse phase chromatography (RP-HPLC) is employed successfully for the separation and analysis of DON (Deoxynivalenol) called as Vomitoxin in particular.
