Local random-phase noise is a noise model for procedural texturing.rnIt is defined on a regular spatial grid by local noises, which arernsums of cosines with random phase. Our model is versatile thanksrnto separate sampling in the spatial and spectral domains. Therefore,rnit encompasses Gabor noise and noise by Fourier series. Arnstratified spectral sampling allows for a faithful yet compact andrnefficient reproduction of an arbitrary power spectrum. Noise by examplernis therefore obtained faster than state-of-the-art techniques.rnAs a second contribution we address texture by example and generaternnot only Gaussian patterns but also structured features presentrnin the input. This is achieved by fixing the phase on some part ofrnthe spectrum. Generated textures are continuous and non-repetitive.rnResults show unprecedented framerates and a flexible visual result:rnusers can control with one parameter the blending between noisernby example and structured texture synthesis.
