When Charity Commission chief executive Andrew Hind decided at the age of 30 that he wanted to work as a finance director for a British aid organisation, he was told he was wasting his career. According to the recruitment agency, the only people who offered their financial qualifications and experience to the charity world were over 55, retired and wanting to 'do some good in the last few years of their career'.
