'Business ethics is increasingly important to the Serious Fraud Office in its fight against fraud and corruption. Those companies with a clear ethical policy are better placed, both to stop fraud at an earlier stage before it does real damage to the enterprise in terms of its reputation and market share, and also to deal with the consequences when it does occur. Equally important is clear leadership at board level and a "tone from the top" that goes beyond just a set of rules to recognise what good business behaviour looks like.
