AUDIT COMMISSION WORK GOES TO TENDER

The Audit Commission has announced tenders for outsourcing bids for statutory audit services. The body is set to be disbanded by October 2012 and it is expected that an independent audit body will be formed to compete with private sector bidders for these services. The strategy, outlined in the Official Journal of the European Union, says contracts will be offered for particular geographic areas. The suppliers can bid for all the work, but the commission has said only one 'lot' will be awarded to a single supplier in a region.
