摘要

HMRC has announced the Electricians Tax Safe Plan, the latest in a long list of campaigns hitting specific sectors perceived as being likely to underpay tax. Starting in February 2012, the Plan will provide a window of opportunity for electricians and electrical fitters to voluntarily come forward and declare any unpaid tax to HMRC. The definition of an electrician, according to the plan, is 'anyone who installs, maintains and tests electrical systems, equipment and appliances under stringent safety regulations'. This campaign builds on HMRC's Plumbers Tax Safe Plan, an earlier plan aimed at doctors and dentists and various other targeted initiatives including ones aimed at personal trainers, e-bay traders and restaurant owners. Clearly HMRC is finding this an effective way to encourage people to come forward and sort out their unpaid tax liabilities.
