Academies no longer need to prepare and submit General Annual Grant (GAG) reports, Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) and an Accounts Abbreviated Return (AAR). Instead, they are required to submit a single but large accounts return. In addition, academy trusts are required to prepare and submit reports externally. These include: Audited year-end accounts (with annual report and financial statements) with Registrar of Companies as required under the Companies Act 2006. The accounts have to be filed with the Education Funding Agency (EFA) by 31 December each year.
