Once again, the Netherlands is in the international spotlight because of its attractive tax regime for multinational companies. The 'Dutch sandwich' is one of the multinationals' favourites on the tax menu. But is the Dutch tax regime really a means of supporting aggressive tax plans or a result of the highly globalised international trading environment in the Netherlands? On the one hand, the regime is intended to support multinationals in their global business and to avoid double taxation.
