Given the ongoing OECD and government-led transparency initiatives, the trend is to increasingly consider, where appropriate, wholly 'onshore' UBO structures headed, in certain circumstances, by an appropriately structured onshore foundation alongside the traditional offshore trust solution, ideally on a compare and contrast pros and cons basis. In order to be fully informed when selecting the appropriate ultimate international UBO holding and wealth protection entity/structure for the long term, the onshore foundation should be considered a useful and flexible vehicle in the toolkit of private international UBO asset-holding structures; in particular in the context of maintaining operational efficiency while maintaining tax efficiency, confidentiality and asset protection. The OECD policy trend indicates the increasing onshoring of offshore structures - as they say in the markets, the 'trend is your friend'.
