Hayama Cave

摘要

This site is on a steep slope in danger of landslides, so a robust structure of reinforced concrete had to be embedded in the ground. The living space, with a dining room and a kitchen, is located above the slope and has a circular shape that would allow the soil to flow on both sides of the house if the upper cliff should collapse. The owner wanted a cave-like space echoing the dwellings in a prehistoric age. Therefore, at our meetings, we put a large lump of clay in front of him and dug it out to create spaces. Naturally, the walls and roof were no longer clearly defined, and the entrance, windows, niche shelves and downlights all became merely holes with different sizes. This is a cave house where the owner listens to the sound of waves from the sea.%敷地は急傾斜で土砂崩れの危険があるため、鉄筋コンクリート造の頑強な構造を支持地盤まで埋め込んだ。斜面の上に顔を出すLDKは、上部の崖が崩壊した時に土 砂を左右に受け流す丸型の外形となっている。建主は原始の人びとが暮らしたような洞窟空間を望んだ。そこで建主の前に大きな粘土の塊をごろつと置いて、空間 を掘りながら打ち合わせを進めた。いつの間にか、壁や屋根という明確な分節がなくなり、入口や窓、ニッチ棚、ダウンライトも皆、孔の大きさの違いでしかなくなつ た。海のさざ波に耳をすます洞窟の家である。
