BackgroundFucoxanthin is a carotenoid present in the chloroplasts of brown seaweeds. Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a cytokine that selectively induces apoptosis in many tumor cells and is an attractive candidate for antitumor therapies.
