Experimental setup and velocity measurement. ( ) Microfluidic device with a porous zone of and depth of 100 µm containing pillars of 200 µm diameter. The experimental domain (flow field shown in ( )) has a size of and is marked with a yellow frame in ( ). In order to achieve a very high resolution, the experimental domain was scanned and stitched together over 36 positions (gray dashed lines). ( ) shows a close-up of the measured velocity field in a small portion of the experimental domain, illustrating the high resolution of our analysis where the vectors have been placed in every 40 th pixel of the gridded velocity field. The velocity fields shown correspond to a non-Newtonian flow with a flow rate of = 5 µL/min.
