Response to letter ‘Why do we say Neuroprotection in stroke when wemean Brain Protection or Cerebroprotection?’

We thank the authors of this letter for emphasising that brain protection after strokegoes beyond protection of neurons, since protection of other brain cells or functionalunits may be critical to improve stroke functional outcome. This is preciselywhat we meant in our statement in the manuscript ‘Action Plan for Stroke in Europe2018–2030’. Please note that the Action Plan paper is not a reviewdocument and it was not intended to expand the different aspects highlighted in thisletter that are addressed in more detail in the cited references.
