Phylogenetic relationships of plant deoxyxylulose 5-phosphate synthases (DXSs) and deoxyxylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerases (DXRs). The accession numbers of plant DXSs and DXRs are displayed with the abbreviated names of plant species as follows: Aa, ; Am, Lour; At, ; Ca, ; Cr, ; Do, ; Gb, ; Gm, ; Hb, ; Hv, ; La, ; Mt, ; Nt, ; Os, ; Pa, ; Pt, ; Rr, ; Sb, ; Si, ; Sl, ; Sm, ; Sr, ; Tm, ; Tw, ; Zm, . Their deduced amino acid sequences were aligned using the ClustalV algorithm of the MegAlign program (DNASTAR, Inc.). Type II proteins, including OsDXS2, and clade II proteins, including OsDXR, are distinguished by black and gray bars, respectively, and proteins belonging to the family including rice are in bold
