Late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) is a relevant condition from an epidemiological perspective, since it has an estimated prevalence of 2.1% ( ). In recent years, this issue has gathered growing interest, due to the possible adverse effects which testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) may expose to. Notably, LOH arises in aging, a period of life wherein cardio-metabolic diseases are highly prevalent ( ) and the risk for cardio- and cerebro-vascular events is not negligible ( ).
