BackgroundGlioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a highly invasive and vascular cancer, responds poorly to conventional cytotoxic therapy. Integrins, widely expressed in GBM and tumor vasculature, mediate cell survival, migration and angiogenesis. Cilengitide is a potent αvβ3 and αvβ5 integrin inhibitor.
