Purpose of reviewThe diagnosis and care of bladder cancer (BC) represents a significant financial burden to the population in the United States. Therapeutic advances in BC care have come at a high cost to payers, providers, and patients. This study describes the principals of economic evaluation in health care and provides recommendations for more economic use of the resources in BC care.
