BackgroundCase series suggest that chronic use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) is associated with hypomagnesemia but current literature lacks systematically collected data. Our aim was to examine whether hypomagnesemia at time of hospital admission is associated with out-of-hospital use of PPIs.
