Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are key agents in promoting the psychosocial well-being of nursing home residents due to their daily contact, yet these workers may experience different perceptions related to agency culture than management and administration (e.g., Wolf et al, 2014). This study explored agency culture perception within and between groups of CNAs. 106 CNAs from three nursing homes in the same metropolitan area completed the Nursing Home Survey on Patient Safety Culture (NHSPSQ) (AHRQ, 2009) and demographics. We explored NHSPSQ subscales within nursing homes by characteristics: shift, unit, and experience (years). A second analysis compared subscale scores between two nursing homes (N=99 CNAs). Domain mean item scores were compared using t-tests with Bonferroni Correction and regression. Linear regression results showed on longer-tenured staff experienced more management support around patient safety. Differences in perceptions may influence care because less supported CNAs may feel less comfortable supporting resident-centered care efforts.
