Problems of comparative oncology

摘要

The author of this article stresses that study of the spontaneous tumours of animals, and of domesticated mammals in particular, from the morphological, biological, etiological, therapeutic and epidemiological aspects may prove of very considerable value in elucidating the nature of spontaneous tumours in man. Emphasis is also laid on the importance of studying the variation between animal species in the occurrence of different types of tumour and in their sites of origin.The important tumours of the various body systems of domesticated mammals are reviewed and relevant comparisons drawn with human tumours.Finally, an outline is given of a number of subjects for cancer research involving close collaboration between veterinary and medical workers at the international level.
