Calcipotriol/betamethasone for the treatment of psoriasis: efficacy safety and patient acceptability

BackgroundOne of the advances in the treatment of plaque-type psoriasis is combined local therapy with calcipotriol and betamethasone. To provide both ingredients in a two-compound product, efforts have been made to unite calcipotriol and betamethasone because they are usually inactivated when present in the same formulation. This aspect was resolved when carefully designed vehicle components were invented (gel and ointment). This article reviews the efficacy, safety, and patient acceptability of calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate.
