Hong Kong is very rich in its environmental resources, the area of land is 1098 km2, 40% of it is listed in the range of outskirts parks, the occupation rate of land is much higher than any other countries or areas. The outskirts parks are not only protected well, but also offer a fine natural environment for Hong Kong people. The wetland behind Mi Pu bay is the largest in Asia, and listed in the international important wetlands, over 20,000 migratory birds stay here in winter season every year. However, in this fast-growing society, it needs a set of effective environmental policies, laws and measures in order to guarantee clean air and sound environment. Hong Kong has set up a good set of systems in the past ten years, which made a great progress on nature and environment protection, and made a fundamentally important base for Hong Kong's sustainable development of the society.
