Pollutant removal performance of the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis technology was studied when the technology was used to treat biological treated effluent, the mixed processing wastewater and wastewaters from five processing units that were main contirbutors to the refractory COD load. Results show that iron-carbon micro-electrolysis removes little TOC from the biological treated effluent, but notably improves the wastewater biodegradability. More than 30 % of TOC is removed from the processing unit wastewater,in which the removal rate of refractory components is equivalent to the biodegradable components.
