3.Network and Device Scan-ningWe automated the configuration processof new IT asset types with the ABB Networkand Device Scanning tool(NDS)comprising aNetwork and Device Scanner and aCompilation Wizard.The Network Scannersearches a given IP range and scans all IP ad-dresses in that range.For each IP address itregisters the status of the IP node(up,down)and gathers some information on its type,e.g.if it is a computer node or a printer etc.In asecond step the Device Scanner gains moreinformation on an IP node using the
