The setting - up of resource - based economies in transition on national experimental district of integrated reform for the scientific development of Shanxi has injected new vitality. The paper proposes that spatial economic growth is reflected mainly by three factors, which are capital investment, labor power, science and technology progress. It uses the Cobb - Douglas production function method to evaluate each growth factor' s elasticity coefficient and contribution rate to spatial economic growth in the period of 1978 -2008 in Shanxi province, and systemically analyzes the future trends.
