Seedlings of wheat (Triticum aestivum) cv. Lovrin 10 were inoculated with leaf rust (Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici) race 165, to form a compatible (Lovin10×165) combination. Intercellular washing fluids (IWF) were prepared from this combination and marked IWF165. The results from characterization indicated that the nature of the active component (elicitor) in IWF may be glycoprotein (s). Treatment with periodate or trypsincaused a decrease in elicitor activity. It seemsthat the protein moiety is more important for eliciting PAL activity, while carbohydrate moiety is more important for eliciting PO and HR activities.rn The eluates collected from IWF gel-filtration were separated into 5 fractions (F1~F5). Of which, F1 showed the highest activities for PAL and HR. F3 showed the highest activity of elicitation for PO (Figs. 3~5).rn All the above results suggested that there might be more than one elicitor-active components (elicitor) in the IWF. They have different molecular weights and they might represent the compounds with differential elicitor activities, identical active compound with varying degrees of polymerization, or fragments havingthe same active center but varying in their size.%感染叶锈菌后小麦叶片细胞间隙液(1wF)中有激发子存在,它(们)能诱导寄主PAL、PO活性的增强及细胞过敏性坏死的产生。这种有诱导活性的物质分别用NaIO4和蛋白酶处理证明含有糖基和蛋白质成分,可能是糖蛋白。IWF经凝胶过滤分离后,各部分诱导不同的防卫反应的活性强度不等。因此IWF中可能含有几种不同成分的激发子,或是同种成分而聚合度不同的激发子。
