The readability means the extent to which the readers can read and understand the text without obstacles. With the review of research on readability both at home and abroad, the thesis finds the research on the readability mainly includes three aspects, the definition, the readability formula, and the application of readability formulas to test some written texts.. Then, the author points out the deficiencies of the present study, such as the limited research on the readability of non-profit organizations’ documents and the ignorance of the effect of the reader and environment on the readability.
