An Interpretation of“Is He Living or Is He Dead”-From the Perspec-tive of the Speech Acts Theory of Pragmatics

Speech acts theory has been widely studied in linguistics, but applied into analyzing literature works has been very few. This paper interprets Mark Twain’s short novel“Is He Living or Is He Dead?”from the perspective of the speech acts theory of pragmatics.
