Based on the theory of Cognitive Functional Grammar,this paper, taking Break Verbs as its study subject, mainly sheds light on the semantic correspondence between Break Verbs and their alternations. After systematic analysis of the verbs in question, we find that the classification of Break Verbs made by Professor Levin needs revision due to the reason that not all the members in Break Verbs share the same alternations and that the verb crash and chip should not belong to Break Verbs. Based on the findings, we further divide Break Verbs into two subcategories and account for the semantic license for each subcategory into its relevant alternations.% 从认知功能模式出发,以“破损动词”小类为研究对象,该文探讨了动词和变式之间的对应关系。通过详细且系统的分析,发现Levin教授对“破损动词”的分类有部分不妥之处:1)在“破损动词”小类中,不是所有动词都共享相同的变式。2)动词crash, chip不应属于“破损动词”小类。基于此发现,该文将“破损动词”小类再细分为两个子类,并分别细化了各自与变式的对应关系和语义准入条件。
