As the Internet develops at a high speed in China,the use of Internet language has been widely accepted by the public. A large number of netizens use them on the digital media platforms,even in their daily communication,reflecting the impact on Internet language by modern society and diverse cultures to some degree.By exploring three types of language variation includ-ingtransliteration from English, phonological variation from dialects and Chinese-English codeswitching, some specific Internet catchphrases are analysed from the perspective of sociolinguistics, in order to summarize their features and causesand further ex-plore their influence on the society.
