This study focuses on the spatial and temporal variability of the sound velocity spring layer in the South China Sea(SCS)based on the monthly temperature and salinity data derived from the Simple Ocean Data Assimilation(SODA)data.The regional distribution and seasonal variability of the main spring layer are investigated usingthe vertical gradient method andtheir statistical eigenvalues are obtained.The results indicatethatthe main spring layets are significantly affected by the monsoon wind and the structure of water currents.The spring layer is vastest,shallowest,thickest and strongest in summer. but smallest,deepest,thinnest and weakest in winter. The characteristics of the spring layerin spring and autumn are in between summer and winter. butthe spring layerin autumn is vaster. deeper and thicker than that in spring.%利用SODA月平均温、盐资料研究南海声速跃层时空分布特征.采用垂直梯度法,分析了主跃层的区域性分布及季节性变化,得出了声速跃层垂直结构参数的统计特征值.结果表明南海海区的季风和环流结构对主跃层的影响很大.夏季声速跃层分布最广,深度最浅,厚度最厚,强度最大.冬季跃层范围最小,深度最深,厚度最薄,强度最小.春秋季跃层特征介于冬夏之间,但春季南海声速跃层深度较秋季浅,厚度较秋季薄,范围较秋季小.
