对文明史的立体性研究是阮炜研究世界文明史的主要倾向。阮炜对世界文明史的立体型研究又体现出以下几个特色：1．现代性视野中的写作模式转变和方法论革新；2．在理论探索中融合中西学问而综合创新；3．对文明史研究怀着深刻的质疑超越精神和本土意识。%Prof. Ruan Wei takes an overall perspective in his research on world civilizations.
