The paper offers a simple analysis of D*H* Lawrence’s four short novels written in the period of the European war so that we can fully appreciate the writer’s implications: The 1st is to warn people that war will do great harm to both sides and war will bring devastating disaster; The 2nd is to tell people that modern civilization is on the edge of collapse.
