从《黑暗的心》管窥康拉德后殖民书写的矛盾性--一种霍米·巴巴视角

     

摘要

The heterogeneity Conrad’s cultural status and his multicultural experience jointly lead to the contradictoriness em-bodied in his post-colonial description in his works. Take as a case his Heart of Darkness, in which the heterogeneity of the charac-ters of this literary work reveals the falsity of colonialism. Meanwhile, it also reflects Conrad’s contradictory attitude to colonialism and the contradictory emotion of the western words to the eastern word“others”. Besides, the vagueness of colonialist words represent-ed in Heart of Darkness shows the complexity colonial history, in which the complicated relationship of collusion and confrontation between the colonizing people and the colonized people dispels the colonial authority. Kurtz’s tragedy of life implies the natural con-tradiction of colonialism."Simulation"is actually a ruling strategy of colonists, but it eventually becomes a strong weapon for the col-onized people fight the colonizers.%康拉德文化身份的混杂性和他的多元文化经历共同造就了其作品后殖民书写的矛盾性。以《黑暗的心》为例,该作品中人物形象的混杂性揭示了殖民主义的虚伪性,同时反映了康拉德对殖民主义的矛盾态度以及西方话语对东方“他者”既爱又恨的矛盾情感;《黑暗的心》所表征的殖民话语的含混性揭示了殖民地历史的复杂性,殖民者和被殖民者既共谋又对抗的复杂关系消解了殖民权威;库尔兹的人生悲剧映射出殖民主义与生俱来的矛盾;“模拟”本来是殖民统治的策略,但最后却成为被殖民者反抗殖民压迫的有力武器。
